Periodontal Disease

Periodontal disease means the disease of the tissues that surround the teeth. Caused by bacteria and affects the gum, the bone and the fibers that attach the teeth to the bone. This disease is generally chronic and progress very slowly and with no symptoms. Patients may see blood when they brush or bad taste and breath.

There different categories of periodontal disease increasing from Gingivitis to advanced Periodontal disease with severe bone loss around the teeth.

Left untreated, these diseases can lead to tooth loss and bacteria can get into the blood stream and cause heart problem and other problem in your whole system. Periodontal disease is associated with preterm birth, low birth weight, or fetal growth restriction in pregnant women.
